Introduction

The rise in demand in the entry-level motorcycles segment has seen a steep rise in the launch of newer models from manufacturers. Lifan Vietnam has introduced a range of products in this regard and the latest model PKF is one such model with the latest version of the engine and loaded with trendy features like stylish body panels with graphics, alloy wheels, upgraded instrument cluster with digital meters as standard.

Design

This is a lightweight motorcycle designed to excel as day to day commuter for small distances. The dimensions include 1940mm X 705mm X 1120mm (Length X Width X Height) the overall weight of 100kg make it convenient to be used by all age group of customer. The saddle height of 775mm and the beautifully designed handlebar give comfortable posture for the rider. Further, the pillion seat rider is given better cushioning for enhanced comfort and the footrest appropriately placed for firm seating of the passenger and the same space can also be used for carrying smaller luggage like a small cartoon boxes as required.

Engine, Economy & Performance

This motorcycle features a single cylinder four strokes 109cc engine delivering the power of 8.4hp at 7500rpm and torque of 7.8Nm at 6000rpm. It is a very good power output for any 100cc engine and the transmission system connected to rear wheels through a 4-speed gearbox and chain drive. The quick response of the engine can take the vehicle to a speed of 40kmph very easily and a top speed of 90kmph can be reached in favorable conditions such as riding on the highway. The maximum fuel efficiency of around 40kmpl can be got in city riding conditions and it can reach up to 44kmpl on the highway.

Handling

This motorcycle is a very easy to handle with its quick responding engine and light in weight overall dimensions. The fine grip of the tyres with size 70/90 R17 for the front and 80/90 R17 for the rear enables the rider to handle easily in congested traffic conditions and narrow spaces in residential areas and business areas of the city/town where one has to negotiate with narrow spaces and jammed traffic conditions. It is a very good performer on highway conditions as well and can be handy for occasional long distance travel.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

The safety of the rider is enhanced with easy to balance dynamics of the body and easy to operate brake system with drum brakes at both front and rear. The suspension system involves telescopic shock absorbers at the front and torsion spring loaded shock absorber at the rear. The clear lens headlight improves the visibility of the road in dark and tail light make it easy to be recognized by the following vehicles in dark and foggy conditions. The analog instrument cluster also features a digital clock which can be handy for easy gauging of time of travel during time bound travelling requirement.

Verdict:

This is a very easy to handle light in weight regular commuter vehicle with best of fuel efficiency and easiness of maintenance and makes an ideal selection for day to day utility.
