Harley-Davidson Iron 883

Highlights

Ducati has recently launched the Iron 883. Right after two months of its launch in Bangkok, the bike was officially introduced in Vietnam. With a side-mounted license plate which leaves the rear fender surfaces smooth and uncluttered. It also has old-school stop-turn-tail lights. The Iron 883 model is the anti-chrome motorcycle—decked in black from front to back with a defiant attitude that embraces the pure essence of riding.

Introduction

Harley Davidson Iron 883 is a raw blacked-out bruiser, an aggressive throwback from the manufacturers. With a dark attitude, it provides a quality ride with no hassles. The engineers of Harley-Davidson has designed Iron 883 as an “anti-chrome” bike for those who want to tear up asphalt and backroads instead of polishing paint. With dual shorty mufflers, drag style handlebar and solo seat, the Iron 883 is a raw, aggressive and stripped-down bike.

Design

With a height, adjustable seat Iron 883 is designed to provide comfort to the rider. In regards to dimension, it has a length of 2255 mm with a width of 821 mm and height of 1107mm weighing 255 kg and the wheelbase of 1519 mm. In front, it has a dominating rounded headlamp with two LED indicators. The front forwarding muscular fat peanut fuel tank has been designed neatly to provide an off-beat appearance. From the side, it has company insignia on its tank which makes it more appealing. At the rear, it has dual exhaust with a tail light that has side indicators with it to add unapologetic aggressive look.

Engine, Economy & Performance

Talking about its engine and performance, the Harley Davidson Iron 883 has an 883cc engine to churn out a great amount of power and peak torque of 70 nm at 3750 rpm. With an iconic air cleaner, the engine serves as the beating heart of this blacked-out bruiser. The blacked-out and powder coated engine also looks amazing. With this configuration, the bike delivers an overall superior performance along with a combined fuel economy of 19 kmpl.

Handling

The manufacturer has used telescopic fork suspension at the front and twin-sided swing arm suspension at the rear. Both the front and rear suspensions are slammed down to their limits which give the bike a low laden seat height. This low seat height has been coupled with the drag bars and mid-mount controls to make a compact rider triangle to suit all the riders. Harley-Davidson has used tubeless tyres in Iron 883 size 100/90 ZR 19 at the front while at the rear the size is 150/80 ZR 16. Michelin scorcher tyres that use cutting-edge synthetic polymers to give both grip and durability.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

For satisfactory braking, Harley Davidson Iron 883 has been blessed with the wet multi-plate clutch that prevents loss of revs and the effects of engine braking under aggressive downshifts. Clutch pull is nice, light and getting underway is effortless. It is equipped with a set of disc brakes at the front and rear with a high-performance ABS which keeps you confident in all harsh braking situations. On top of this it also has advanced safety features like stability, traction, cruise and emission control. These features make the bike a safe and trustworthy companion for the streets.

Verdict

With optimum comfort and superb all-round performance the manufacturer has definitely managed to produce a well-equipped Harley Davidson bike. Its uninterrupted power and great sound add more grace to its awesome looks.
