Ducati Monster 1200

Highlights

Ducati has recently launched the naked sports motorcycle Monster 1200. Right after two months of its launch in Bangkok, the bike was officially launched in Vietnam. The Italian automaker has managed to shed-off 2kg of weight in this motorcycle. Ducati Monster 1200 is equipped with a powerful Testastretta engine and will be available in two different colors.

Introduction

Ducati Monster series is one of the most aggressive naked sports motorcycles, which is now available in the Vietnam's two-wheeler market. The range of monster will have 10 different bikes from 795cc to 1200cc. Ducati Monster 1200 known as the most powerful naked machine till date. With increased power and light handling, Ducati Monster 1200 is a dynamic bike. Excellent feature and all the components make it stand apart from the crowd. It will also have stability, traction control along with ABS.

Design

With a height, adjustable seat and saddle Ducati Monster 1200 is designed to provide comfort to the rider and pillion. In regards to dimension, it has a length of 2200 mm with a width of 830 mm and height of 1040mm weighing 209 kg and the wheelbase of 1511 mm. It also has alloy wheels and adjustable LED headlights. In front, it has a dominating rounded headlamp section with twin individual sections. The front forwarding fuel tank has been designed neatly to provide an off-beat appearance and to give a comfortable ride to the rider. From the side, it has chrome garnish and it also has company insignia with masculine ribs of the machine which makes it more appealing. Rear portion includes a single tail light that has side indicators with it to add majestic look.

Engine, Economy & Performance

Talking about its engine and performance, the Monster 1200 has a 12-litre 1198cc engine to churn out a power of 145 hp at 8750 rpm and peak torque of 125.5 nm at 7250 rpm. With this configuration, the bike delivers an overall superior performance along with a combined fuel economy of 18 kmpl.

Handling

The Italian manufacturer has used telescopic suspension in front and mono shock suspension at the rear. Ducati has used tubeless flat tyres in Monster 1200 size 120/70 ZR 17 at the front while at the rear the size is 190/55 ZR 17. The Pirelli Angel ST tyres have a decent adhesion property and offer a superior stability on the road. The grippy tyres provide an excellent and stress-free riding.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

For satisfactory braking, Ducati Monster 1200 has been blessed with APTC wet multi-plate slipper clutch that prevents loss of revs and the effects of engine braking under aggressive downshifts. It is equipped with a set of disc brakes at the front and rear with a high-performance ABS unit that gives a better stability under harsh braking conditions. On top of this it also has service due indicator, side wings and advanced safety features like stability, traction control. These features make the bike a safe and trustworthy companion for the streets.

Verdict

With optimum comfort and superb all-round performance the manufacturer has definitely managed to produce a well-equipped dominating bike. Considering its uninterrupted power delivery and the sharp design, you may not find a prominent bike in the market.
